G3 and Fast Forward Tuition Assistance

Purpose

Successful completion of this short-term program provides graduates with multiple credentials, combining Nurse Aide and Clinical Medical Assistant to become a Patient Care Technician.

This course teaches you the skills needed to assist with nursing care in a variety of settings, including hospitals, doctor offices, nursing homes, and residences. Learn foley care, phlebotomy, activities of daily living, EKGs, vital signs, and more.  Take one of the first steps in the pathway to becoming a nurse. The combination of class time and clinical rotations provide you with plenty of practice and the confidence to succeed. Following successful completion of the course, you will be prepared to take the Virginia State Board of Nursing exam for Nurse Aide licensure as well as the Certified Clinical Medical Assistance exam. Expand your career opportunities to provide care in a wide variety of clinical settings.

Admission Requirements

  • meet eligibility requirements as stipulated by the National Healthcareer Association to include having a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass background check and drug screening scheduled by Rappahannock Community College
  • Provide proof of required vaccinations/immunities through the document tracker. Applicants will be provided access to the tracker by Rappahannock Community College

Program Requirements

Clinical and behavioral requirements and supervised student experiences are required by the program and will be accomplished at selected agencies. Students are responsible for transportation to these facilities. Program preceptors will observe and evaluate student suitability for the profession across all domains of learning. If students do not exhibit the documented behaviors required of the healthcare professional, they may be asked to withdraw from the program. All students must comply with healthcare agency requirements for criminal background checks, drug testing, and CPR certification.
